<h4 class="subsection">1.7.5 Privoxy</h4>

<p><a name="index-Privoxy-29"></a>
<a href="http://www.privoxy.org/">Privoxy</a> is the current incarnation of
Junkbuster. Privoxy has the ability to randomly modify web pages
before sending them to the browser &mdash; for example, remove
&lsquo;<samp><span class="samp">&lt;blink&gt;</span></samp>&rsquo; or &lsquo;<samp><span class="samp">&lt;img&gt;</span></samp>&rsquo; tags.

<p>Just like its parent, Privoxy cannot do persistent connections. Under
some circumstances, it will also buffer whole pages before sending
them to the client, which significantly adds to its latency. However,
this is difficult to avoid given the kinds of rewriting it attempts to
perform.
