<p>Kaikkea suoritustarkoituksessa <app>Päätteeseen</app> kirjoitettua tekstiä kutsutaan <em>komennoksi</em>. Päätteessä voi ajaa sekä graafisia- (GUI) että komentorivisovelluksia.</p>
<p>Komentoja voi suorittaa seuraavasti:</p>

<p>Kirjoita komento <app>Päätteen</app> komentokehotteeseen.</p>

<p>Suorita se painamalla <key>Enter</key>.</p>

<p>Jos ohjelma sulkeutuu yhtäkkiä ilman varoitusta tai virheilmoitusta, ohjelma kannattaa ajaa <app>Päätteessä</app>. Tällöin ohjelma voi tulostaa virhe- tai vianjäljitysviestejä <app>Päätteeseen</app>, joista voi olla hyötyä virheraporttia laatiessa.</p>
